SERA Bangladesh, in collaboration with Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU), conducted a comprehensive assessment of Bangladesh’s fresh and processed mango export sector under the PARTNER Project to identify market opportunities, value chain gaps, and barriers to international trade. The study evaluated production systems, post-harvest handling, laboratory testing capacity, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and export readiness to strengthen Bangladesh’s competitiveness in global markets.
Through extensive field research, stakeholder consultations, Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), laboratory assessments, industry visits, and market analysis, the study engaged government agencies, research institutions, exporters, processors, testing laboratories, and farmers to generate evidence-based insights. It assessed compliance with international food safety and phytosanitary standards, export testing systems, certification requirements, cold chain infrastructure, and market access requirements for key export destinations.
Based on the findings, the study developed a strategic roadmap to strengthen Bangladesh’s mango export ecosystem by improving food safety compliance, quality assurance systems, testing infrastructure, post-harvest management, traceability, certification, logistics, and value-added processing. The recommendations aim to enhance institutional capacity, expand access to premium international markets, and increase the global competitiveness of Bangladesh’s fresh and processed mango products while creating greater economic opportunities for producers and agribusinesses.
