SERA Bangladesh successfully conducted the Endline Evaluation of the "Ecology-Friendly Safe Vegetable & Crop Production & Marketing" Sub-Project under the Rural Microenterprise Transformation Project (RMTP). The evaluation assessed the project's effectiveness in promoting climate-resilient, environmentally sustainable and market-oriented vegetable production among smallholder farmers in Joypurhat District, covering the Upazilas of Panchbibi, Akkelpur and Joypurhat Sadar.
Using a rigorous mixed-method approach - including household surveys, focus group discussions, key informant interviews, case studies and comparative analysis with baseline data - SERA Bangladesh measured the project's impact on agricultural productivity, farmer income, adoption of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), Integrated Pest Management (IPM), ecological farming techniques, market access, gender inclusion, youth participation and household nutrition.
The evaluation demonstrated that project interventions contributed to improved production efficiency, increased profitability, stronger market linkages, enhanced climate resilience and wider adoption of safe vegetable cultivation practices. Findings from the study provide evidence-based recommendations for scaling sustainable agricultural value chains, strengthening rural enterprises, and informing future investments by development partners and government institutions.
